Please join us in congratulating Ms Leyden, who will become Vice Principal of C. Ian McLaren School in Black Diamond in August 2020. We are sorry to see her go.
Ms Leyden has served as vice-principal at RDL since 2012.
Moving into her second appointment as school leader, Judy brings excellent experience in teaching and leadership at the k-6 level as she joins the leadership team at CIM. Within her time at Millarville Community School, Cayley School, and Red Deer Lake School as teacher, instructional coach and vice-principal, Judy has consistently provided optimum learning opportunities for students.
In addition to her leadership experience, Ms Leyden brings a myriad of extra-curricular experiences and expertise that support students in building skills and knowledge beyond the classroom and contribute to an effective, supportive and successful learning environment.
Ms Leyden holds a Master of Science (Sport Psychology) from the University of Manitoba, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Manitoba. Judy recently completed the Alberta Education Leadership Quality Standards (LQS) training and holds a provincial LQS certificate.

Stacey Burrows, Vice Principal, Red Deer Lake School, effective August 26, 2020
Ms Stacey Burrows will transfer from C. Ian McLaren School where she has served as vice-principal since 2014.
Stacey looks forward to her next school leadership appointment as she joins the RDL Dragons and welcomes new opportunities with the students, families and staff of RDL. With k-12 teaching and leadership experiences, Stacey will compliment well the experienced staff at Red Deer Lake School. In previous roles with FSD, Stacey has served as teacher and instructional coach at École Okotoks Junior High School, teacher at École Secondaire Highwood High School, and vice-principal at C. Ian McLaren School. Stacey has also successfully supported the Foothills School Division Summer School in the role of Principal.
Stacey has broad grade and subject level experience including Music and Fine Arts, French as a Second Language, Physical Education and comprehensive classroom experiences to support the tradition of excellence at RDL.
Ms Burrows holds a Master of Education (Leadership and Administration) from Gonzaga University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Regina and a Diploma in French as a Second Language from the University of Quebec at Chicoutimi. Stacey has completed the Alberta Education Leadership Quality Standards (LQS) training and holds a provincial LQS certificate.
As she gets set to join the RDL School Community, Stacey offers, “Each school in FSD, reflects the unique essence of its community and I am excited and enthused to get the opportunity to learn with and from, the students, families and staff of RDL as I continue on in my leadership journey.
